Role Summary

As a Receptionist at Netcare Alberton Hospital, you’ll be at the heart of our patient care experience. Your responsibilities will include answering phones, scheduling and registering patients, handling charge entries, managing work queues, posting payments, and balancing batches and cash reconciliations. You’ll also be the first point of contact for our visitors, greeting them with a smile and ensuring their needs are met promptly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet visitors, directing them to their appointments.
  • Attend to the needs of patients, customers, and visitors within professional and legislative boundaries.
  • Prepare the reception area for each working day, ensuring all front desk activities are fully operational at the start of business hours.
  • Assist patients in completing necessary forms and documents for hospital admissions.
  • Accurately capture admission and discharge information, focusing on patient and visitor needs.
  • Risk profile clients for affordability in line with the National Credit Act and requirements.
  • Identify financial risks proactively and communicate these to patients and the internal risk chain.
  • Collect payments and prepare financial registers daily, handling receipting functions as per policy.
  • Manage the flow of information between doctor’s rooms, patients, medical schemes, and other service providers.
  • Maintain administrative records and report statistics as required.
  • Perform general administrative duties as needed.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and email.
  • Previous hospital reception experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with Telephone Management Systems.
